Health Care Plans*
Florida Hospital offers a comprehensive health care plan that provides coverage for hospitalization, pharmacy and other medical services with an emphasis on preventative services covered at 100%. The plan is offered to eligible full-time and part-time employees at an affordable rate. Coverage is also available for dependents at an additional cost.
To ease the financial burden of dental expenses, employees and dependents are eligible for two dental insurance plans — a managed care plan and an indemnity plan. Both plans are provided by Delta Dental with differing monthly premiums and benefits. Employees are also eligible for a dental reimbursement plan after two years of service.
Eligible full-time and part-time employees may purchase a coverage plan that provides reimbursement for vision care expenses, for themselves and eligible dependents. The plan offers a choice of providers and does not require pre-authorization. The plan also provides a percentage of reimbursement according to billed charges.
Cancer and Other Disease Insurance*
The Cancer and Other Disease insurance helps offset the severe financial hardship caused by intensive and ongoing medical treatment. This is a supplemental insurance plan that offers coverage for the employee and family in the event of cancer or other specified diseases. Benefits are paid directly to the covered person.
Florida Hospital provides all full-time employees with Basic Group Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance in the amount of the employee’s base annual salary. Employees may purchase supplemental Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance in the amount equal to 1, 2, 3 or 4 times the amount of their annual salary. Eligible part-time employees may also purchase coverage at a minimal monthly cost. Dependent and additional life insurance is also available for purchase.
Flexible Spending Accounts*
There are three different types of Flexible Spending Accounts — medical, dependent care (day care) and adoption. These accounts are not interchangeable. Federal law allows the employee to deposit a portion of gross income into a spending account on a pre-tax basis. This means that employees will save 25-40% on federal and FICA (Social Security) taxes on the money that is set aside. Due to Federal Law, however, any monies set aside must be used in the same plan year or forfeited.
Short- and Long-Term Disability*
Disability coverage protects the employee’s ability to earn an income in the event of injury or illness. Short-term disability insurance provides an income while the employee is disabled and unable to perform his or her job. It can also bridge the gap until the employee is eligible for Social Security disability or group long-term disability benefits. Long-term disability insurance provides monthly financial protection should a disability continue beyond the short-term disability coverage.
All employees who work at least 16 hours per week may elect to take advantage of several health and wellness benefits, including: health care, dental, life, vision, short-term disability and cancer insurance, as well as flexible spending accounts and PDO.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Florida Hospital provides the EAP benefit at no cost to eligible employees, and anyone in their household. Services include face-to-face counseling for marital and family relationships, stress management, alcohol and drug issues, work-related concerns, depression and anxiety. A 24/7 toll-free hotline accesses EAP counselors for a free evaluation, telephonic support and a referral for up to five face-to-face counseling sessions from mental health providers. Legal and financial consultations and referrals are also available through this program.
Paid Days Off (PDO)
PDO are funded by money that is accrued while employees work their regular hours. For example, a new employee accrues 8% of gross earnings up to 40 hours a week. PDO begins accruing on the first day of work, with days eligible for use during the pay period following 91 days of employment. (For certain job classes, PDO are available once accrued.) PDO are used to pay for vacation, holidays, personal and sick days. An employee simply schedules time off with the supervisor and uses it as desired.
Florida Hospital supports our Employees following the death of immediate family members by offering 3 paid days of bereavement leave.
We provide a six-week Grief Recovery seminar designed to provide comfort and support for those going through the pain of loss. Grief Recovery works to help the employee face their feelings and work through them. The program's informal meetings provide information and answers to questions, as well as support, comfort and guidance.

- Onsite Employee Fitness groups (yoga, Zumba, resistance bands, walking and more)
- Flu Shots: free for employees and family members covered by the Florida Hospital Health Plan
- Partnerships with local organizations offering employees access to programs such as the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program to help reduce or prevent your risk of developing type 2 diabetes
Florida Hospital believes in health for the whole person: mind, body and spirit. In an effort to provide our employees with a time and a place for rejuvenation, we have designated our break rooms as No-Stress Zones. Employees can use these rooms to escape the stresses of work, and relax.
Each campus has various festivals and celebrations throughout the year with food, gifts and entertainment.
Each campus location offers a variety of convenient, fresh, healthy and delicious foods. A 30% discount is available on many cafeteria and bake shop purchases.
