Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children is home to a 22-bed Level I PICU, which is specially designed to provide holistic healing for critically ill children and their families. Our unit is equipped with the latest technologies, including full life support and monitoring for children of all ages, as well as a dedicated critical care transport team providing pediatric transports throughout the Central Florida area. A free-standing charge nurse and transport RN are available 24/7, and our unit has dedicated respiratory therapists, a case manager, and child life specialist to support our patients’ needs.

The pediatric intensive care unit utilizes a team approach to provide the highest quality patient care. Leadership recognizes team efforts and contributes to fostering an environment of trust and hope. Each of us feels called to nurture patients and each other during this critical time. The Nurse to patient ratio in the pediatric intensive care unit is 1:1 or 1:2.
