Medical-Surgical Pediatric Unit - We have 39 private beds and treat children age newborn through 18 years on a locked unit, requiring badge access. The Peds unit has a very active Nurse Practice Council that is led by direct-care nurses, with leadership support. Our nurses are also actively involved in several unit-based committees such as our Diabetic Collaborative, Asthma, Spirit and PR3 (Peds rest, relaxation & recreation). Our nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 or 1:5.
Pediatric Surgery - This state-of-the-art unit provides challenging work in laparoscopy, plastic, ENT, urology, and orthopaedic surgeries. As you enter each of the four surgical suites, you are welcomed into rooms that were designed to match the four Disney themes in Florida Hospital for Children. Each suite provides a kid-friendly setting in a highly technical environment, such as the nurse command center that can control everything from the soft lighting and favorite DVD to the surgical equipment.
