As part of Florida Hospital’s nationally recognized Orthopaedic Institute, Florida Hospital Altamonte treats more than 5,000 patients each year, and is one of the top ten hospitals in the country for the annual number of total joint replacements. We use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, spine procedures and congenital conditions.

Our doctors, nurses and therapy staff work as a strong interdisciplinary team to promote rehabilitation, while an active Clinical Best Practice Committee works continuously to improve patient care, satisfaction and outcomes. Members of the nursing staff benefit from a concentrated diagnosis, in addition to this focus on clinical best practice which provides our patients consistency of care. Ortho/Rehab nursing units include:

Fracture Care Center

This 19-bed adult trauma orthopaedic unit provides both pre- and post-operative care to patients from all across Florida, who come to us with complex fractures and orthopaedic trauma. Nurses work with a nationally recognized team of Orthopaedic Traumatologists, performing state-of-the-art orthopaedic, minimally invasive, limb salvage and joint replacement procedures.

CARF-Certified Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

This is a 10-bed, CARF-certified acute rehabilitation unit which specializes in speech, stroke, orthopaedic, back, spinal, hip and knee care. We also treat patients suffering from neurological diseases/injury, CVA, TBI and brain tumors, as well as patients with other diagnoses which limit their ability to return home. Our nurses work closely with a therapy staff that includes neurophysiology, PT, OT, RT, speech and case management. All admissions to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit are prescreened, planned and must meet criteria to be accepted into the program including medical stability, the ability to tolerate three hours of therapy daily and have a solid discharge plan.

Spine Center

Sciatica, lower back pain, neck pain and pinched nerves are some of the most common reasons for medical visits. That’s why our Spine Center was created to help patients determine underlying conditions and benefit from treatments to alleviate pain, improve lack of mobility and manage disease states. Our team of specialists is able to provide today’s most innovative and advanced care, including a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team approach that utilizes physical therapy, pain medicine and minimally invasive surgery.
