Florida Hospital Altamonte’s 37-bed, level II Emergency Department has the most preferred and most efficient Emergency Department in the county, with 30,000 square-feet of patient-centric space. The unit is designed with all private rooms for a quieter, calming experience in a true healing environment. Our ED is fully equipped to care for all medical and surgical emergencies, for patients of all ages.
We are also a nationally designated Brain Attack Center, with the technology and expertise to reverse the effects of a stroke in just minutes. There is a certain satisfaction in knowing that our advanced emergency protocols are improving the clinical outcomes of our patients, with an emphasis on quality and safety. The unit also features 11 intensive care rooms that offer state-of-the-art care for those in critical need.
The unit consists of registered nurses, ED techs and health unit coordinators, who enjoy excellent relationships with our Medical Director and 12 CORE physicians. The nurse to patient ratio can be 1:3 at peak hours and 1:4 during non-peak hours.
Our emergency department is the first in Central Florida to roll out a successful Door-to-Doc program guaranteeing medical help in 60 minutes max. We consistently exceed that goal through exceptional teamwork, strong partnerships with other departments, and a shared vision to be pacesetters in emergency medicine. Average length of stay for patients that do not require admission is 2.5 hours, and twice as long for patients requiring admission.
