Nursing
Professional Practice Program

If you want to grow in your current specialty, this Professional Practice Program is a great way for to you to excel along a competency-based career path. This program is designed for bedside nurses looking to advance their level of skill and knowledge as achieved through defined Clinical Nurse designations.

The Professional Practice Program provides reimbursement for initial certification and BSN completion. Differential compensation also applies at levels II, III and IV.

• Clinical Nurse (CN) Resident

The first phase of the program focuses on the development of skills necessary to provide patient-focused care. This is where a Clinical Nurse Resident or Graduate Nurse will develop a comfort level for everyday patient care. Timeframe will range from six to 12 months, before advancement to the next level is achieved.

• Clinical Nurse (CN) II

As a CN II, nurses begin to develop other professional competencies including prioritization, time management, and the ability to establish short and long-term goals for their patients. Most nurses will need 1-2 years to develop their skills in these areas before being ready to advance to the level of Clinical Nurse III.

• Clinical Nurse (CN) III

CN III professionals are recognized for their highly proficient nursing skills, including the ability to analyze problems and determine effective resolutions in both familiar and unfamiliar situations. The CN III has formal education (including a BSN or certification in a specialty area) and frequently serves as a resource to others.

• Clinical Nurse (CN) IV

A CN IV is an expert in the field, intuitively providing care based on a holistic approach to healing. This level of nursing focuses on discrete changes in patient condition, and requires the ability to pinpoint almost any problem, under any situation and adjust the patient plan accordingly. The CN IV has formal education (including a BSN and certification or an MSN), serves as a resource to peers and reaches out beyond their particular unit to impact the big picture of patient care.
