• Clinical Path
CLINICAL NURSE LEADER: Assures the quality of nursing practice and provides clinical leadership and expertise on a specific unit. Requires an MSN degree.
CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST: In charge of quality assurance in regard to patient outcomes related to the nursing practice. This is achieved by both providing clinical expertise and developing clinical guidelines. Requires an MSN degree and associated credentials.
CLINICAL SYSTEMS LEADER: Holds the responsibility for ensuring system-wide quality of the nursing practice, developing practice guidelines, providing expertise to the organization as a whole, and developing the skills of nurses on the Clinical Path. Requires the minimum of an MSN degree, with a PhD preferred.
• Research Path
MSN NURSE RESEARCHER: Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs in nursing research and evidence-based practice. Excellent opportunity to support exciting research at the unit level and participate in collaborative efforts between health care providers and the Center for Nursing Research and Innovation. Requires an MSN degree.
PHD NURSE RESEARCHER: Facilitates the development, implementation and evaluation of programs in nursing research and evidence-based practice, building on the MSN Nurse Researcher role. Requires a PhD, with a BSN or MSN also preferred.
• Education Path
EDUCATION GENERALIST: Works within the Nursing Education department, specializing in activities such as orientation and continuing staff. Requires the minimum of a BSN degree, with an MSN preferred.
EDUCATION SPECIALIST: Responsible for the clinical education needs of a specific unit or service. Requires the minimum of a BSN degree, with an MSN preferred.
PROGRAM COORDINATOR: Helps to administer specific programs as designated by the Education Manager and Director. Requires a BSN degree.
EDUCATION MANAGER: Has responsibility for the management of Education department employees who oversee educational programs and clinical education. Requires an MSN degree.
EDUCATION DIRECTOR: Active in mission-critical or strategic work to meet the greater goals of the organization, while also helping develop the skills of Education department employees. Requires the minimum of an MSN degree, with a PhD preferred.
