Neurosurgery - Florida Hospital Orlando is proud to present a new state-of-the art 8 suite surgical center specializing in neurological and ENT disorders. One of the 8 suites is the "InnovatOR" designed to allow any surgical specialty the opportunity to partner with top surgical vendors around the world to design new and state-of-the art tools to better care for patients. The Ginsberg Perioperative area, consisting of 18 private patient rooms, is designed to better involve family and patients in the care needed throughout the surgery.

Each patient room is ICU compatible with touch screen bedside monitors and staffed with highly trained and specialized nurses capable of caring for both adult and pediatric populations. Nurses on this unit care for patients such as those needing both open and endoscopic craniotomy procedures, ICP drains, seizure mapping with continuous EEG monitoring, and all spine disorders from a herniated disk, spinal cord tumor, to scoliosis. This world class unit also has an Intra-operative MRI and CT to better allow our physicians diagnostic capability intra-operatively, which ultimately allows the team to better care for our patients.

Cardiovascular Surgery - Florida Hospital Orlando features 9 surgical suites dedicated solely to cardiovascular surgeries and has been named “America’s Heart Hospital” by MSNBC because of the acuity of our cases, including the most open-heart surgeries in the state. We are at the leading-edge of technological innovation in areas like endovascular harvest program, minimally invasive valve and coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair/replacement, MAZE, abdominal aortic and ascending arch aneurysms, carotid endarterectomies, heart and lung transplants and more.

Fracture Care Surgery - Florida Hospital’s Fracture Care Center specializes in many complex orthopaedic surgeries, including: limb salvage and lengthening, bone infection, deformity correction, reconstructive surgery, joint replacements and revisions, as well as orthopaedic traumas.

General Surgery - With 26 surgical suites, this unit provides challenging work in robotic surgeries, neurology, orthopaedic, GYN, laparoscopy, plastic, ENT, dental and more. OR internships and specialty training programs in liver, kidney and pancreas transplant are also available here.

Short-Stay Procedures/Rapid-In-and-Out (RIO) - On this unit, we deliver pre- and post-op care to Med/Surg patients that will be discharged within 24 hours of admission. We feature 36 adult beds and 12 pediatric beds.

Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) - This is a high-tech, 25-bed unit equipped with bedside monitors, omniflow pumps, plum pumps, PCA, ventilators, tough books and epidural pumps. PACU nurses gain experience with airway management, extubation, aerosol treatment, phlebotomy, isolation, central line placement, ICP, nebulizers, venipuncture and robotics. A four-tiered professional practice ladder is offered.

Pre-Op and Discharge Surgical Unit (PODS) - We’re a newly created team-based 36-bed unit where nurses provide pre-surgical evaluations, determine patient readiness, and help to expedite discharges. PODS nurses enjoy extensive patient and family interaction, including work on kidney and liver transplant cases.

Outpatient Surgery Unit - We are a hospital-based unit with eight OR suites and a diverse patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric. Our work includes scheduling, admission, preparation of the patient, anesthesia services, surgical procedures, ECTs, PACU Phase I and II, recovery, and discharge.
