The Neuroscience Institute at Florida Hospital has grown to become one of the most comprehensive institutes in the nation, treating more neuroscience patients than any other hospital in the nation. Neuro Critical Care
As one of the Southeast’s largest Neuro Intensive Care units, we're advancing the care of brain injuries, spinal injuries, hemorrhagic pathologies, medical neurological pathologies, seizures and brain attacks. In this 32-bed unit (20 ICU, 2 INR Stroke, 10 intermediate), the Nurse/Patient Ratio is 1:2 (1:3 intermediate). We treat complex spinal surgeries with fellowship-trained physicians.

Neuro Medical Unit
This 35-bed progressive care unit boasts a Nurse/Patient Ratio of 1:3-4 and supports one of the busiest stroke hospitals in the state. Utilizing a Clinical Team Nursing model, the team treats brain attacks, TIAs, altered mental status, brain tumors, seizures and other neurological conditions.

Neuro Surgical Unit
We are the region’s busiest spinal surgery and remote telemetry unit, performing more than 1,300 complex procedures each year in our 30-bed unit. In this Neuro progressive care unit we treat complex spinal surgeries with fellowship-trained physicians and a Nurse/Patient Ratio of 1:3-4. Our advanced technologies include Gamma Knife® radiosurgery, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and interventional neuroradiology.

Neuro/Ortho Research
The Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute Clinical Research Division offers nurses and other healthcare professionals the opportunity to work on a variety of cutting-edge clinical research trials. Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and research registries are used to advance the field of neurological research and provide advanced treatments for patients.
