Our Emergency Department is based on a true interdisciplinary patient care model, within a holistic healing environment. Whether working in the ED or one of our other emergency units, everyone on the team has access to breakthrough medical programs, visionary leadership, and world-class technology.

• Emergency Department

We are a mission-focused unit, dedicated to diagnosing and treating a wide variety of actual and potential health problems. Our expanded ED has grown to include 72 beds, six nurses stations, five nutrition stations, real-time radiography stations, and the latest equipment for tracking vital signs, lab results, x-rays and more. Patients are cared for in private rooms (with private bathrooms and plasma televisions), by an accomplished team of nine emergency medicine physicians, four physician extenders, and over 95 nurses. Working in the ED offers exposure to clinical trials and other cutting-edge procedures, including intravenous tPA.

• Emergency Flight Unit

Equipped with critical care nurses, a respiratory therapist and technologically sophisticated life-saving equipment, the flight unit serves as an in-air emergency room, without hospital back up. Our challenges are exceptional as we handle a diverse patient population that often includes cardiac patients, neurological injuries, premature babies or trauma victims. On any 12-hour shift the flight team might travel to disaster sites, remote areas or other unexpected places to help treat complicated cases. Aside from having the best view of any unit, we also become experts in airway management, critical care nursing assessments, interventions, invasive line monitoring and the latest in emergency response techniques.

• Emergency Psych Clinical Decision Unit

This is a 24-hour intensive assessment facility dedicated to serving people in crisis, who are suffering from physical, mental or emotional illness. We are a small, three-bed, short-term care unit with a team of nurses, psychiatrists, emergency physicians and support staff. Our goal is to provide the medical and mental health assessments necessary to admit patients and discharge them back into the community (usually within six hours), or coordinate extended care at an appropriate facility.
