reversed. This is what it’s like to work in Critical Care at our
flagship facility, Florida Hospital Orlando. As a part of our team, you
will have the opportunity to improve the health of Florida’s most
diverse patients, while becoming an expert at one of America’s top
hospitals.
A hallmark of this campus is the Florida Hospital
Cardiovascular Institute, which has set the standard for the early
detection and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and disorders since
1967. Our cardiology team treats more than 25,000 individuals for chest
pain and performs more than 1,700 cardiac procedures each year. We are
third in the country, and first in the state for the number of
open-heart surgeries performed. The team also handles other specialized
procedures, such as valve repair/replacement, heart remodeling,
ascending and descending aortic aneurysms, and arterial fibrillation
ablations.
While cardiology continues to be an exciting growth
area, the Critical Care specialty at Florida Hospital Orlando offers
many sub-specialties where you can focus your skills.

an immediate post-op open heart unit for cardiac, thoracic and vascular
surgery recovery patients, we also handle pre-op patients as needed.
The special therapies supported by the department are IABP, CRRT and
Ventricular Assist Devices.
CVICU nurses who join us here have
the opportunity to become experts in advanced hemodynamics, bleeding
disorders, coagulopathies, airway emergencies, cardiac rhythms, the
management of pacemakers and internal cardiac defibrillators and more.

self-scheduling.
CVICU nurses will enjoy unique development and
education enhancement opportunities including critical care training,
preceptor-led training and a nurse mentoring program. Interested

opportunity to work with vascular and thoracic patients immediately
after surgery, while also gaining experience with research protocols,
endostent AAA, and endograft TAA with lumbar drains. Nurse to patient
ratio on the unit is 1:2, with a generous support staff of four
assistant nurse managers, a full-time nurse manager, a CV educator, a
