Our Emergency Department is located in one of the fastest-growing communities in Osceola County, close to Walt Disney World entertainment complex and local attractions. The unit consists of 22 monitored beds and the local area’s only Chest Pain Center. We see over 34,000 patients each year, serving all age groups with the best in community-based acute, medical and surgical care.

The ED uses an online documentation tool which was created by nurses to enhance the quality of our records, decrease errors and promote patient safety. The department also utilizes LEAN principles in an effort to promote safe and efficient throughput. We also maintain a consistent 3:1 nurse patient ratio in this area.

This is a family-oriented unit, where the team acts as a direct extension of the healing ministry of Christ through our mission statement and core values. We care not only for our patients, but each other, taking the time to recognize good work with ED Excellence in Service Awards. Our professional practice program also rewards quality performance with opportunities for advancement.

Our ED team includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians, health unit coordinators and emergency physicians. All team members have certifications in both Adult and Pediatric Life Support, as well as other specialty certifications. We are proud to maintain a high retention rate and low turnover, by encouraging teamwork, staff accountability and open communication. This team is the primary departmental decision maker and is actively engaged in process enhancement and improvement strategies. Our ED Nursing Practice Council also empowers staff to enhance quality-driven, patient-focused care based on research and best practices.
