Our state-of-the-art Surgical Services area is a diverse and exciting department serving both the general and specialty surgery populations. We handle a wide range of procedures including orthopaedics, gynecology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, urology, peripheral/vascular, plastic-cosmetic, oncology, pediatrics, laser, plastic reconstructive, podiatry, bariatric and neurosurgery.
Designed for optimal treatment and patient care, our facilities consist of several units dedicated to specific stages of the surgical services process:
- Main OR (11 suites By January 2009)
- Endoscopy (two procedure rooms)
- Pre-Admission Testing
- PACU (Phase 1: 16 beds, Phase 2: 20 beds)
- Pre-Op Holding
- Anesthesia
- Central Sterile Processing
- Pain Management
From a technology standpoint, we have spared no expense. Florida Hospital Celebration Health performs robotic surgical procedures, minimally invasive surgery, telesurgeries and webcasts. We began our Global Robotics Institute in January 2008, with two robots in the main OR. The rooms are fully integrated via Storz OR1 to allow for connectivity with our educational center, off-site entities and other facilities. This will be the benchmark for all new surgery suites in this location.
Our team is as diverse as the procedures we conduct and is comprised of registered nurses, surgical scrub technicians, surgical assistants, central supply technicians, anesthesia technicians, scheduling and secretarial support. There is no floating. However, surgery, endoscopy, central sterile processing, anesthesia and PACU, do have on-call responsibilities.
What makes our department truly special is that every employee is looked at as an individual. Orientation is structured to meet specific learning needs and optimize each new hire’s chances for success. There is also a dedicated educator for the department to further ensure growth and development. And our clinical ladder is open to nurses and scrub techs.
