Our campus has a 24-hour, Level II Emergency Department, consisting of 30,000 square-feet of patient-centric space with cardiac monitoring capability. In fact, our 37-bed healing environment offers patients private rooms for a quieter, calming experience. ED rooms are large enough to accommodate family members, and also have private bathrooms and flat-screen televisions. Everything is designed and equipped to care for all medical and surgical emergencies, ranging from neonate to geriatric.

The unit also features 11 intensive care rooms that offer state-of-the-art care for those in critical need. We are a nationally designated Brain Attack Center, with the technology and expertise to reverse the effects of a stroke in just minutes. There is a certain satisfaction in knowing that our advanced emergency protocols are improving the clinical outcomes of our patients, with an emphasis on quality and safety.

Our ED is the first in Central Florida to roll out a successful Door-to-Doc program guaranteeing medical help in 60 minutes max. We consistently exceed that goal through exceptional teamwork, strong partnerships with other departments, and a shared vision to be pacesetters in emergency medicine. Average length of stay for patients that do not require admission is 2.5 hours, and twice as long for patients requiring admission.

The unit consists of registered nurses, ED techs and Health Unit Coordinators, who enjoy excellent relationships with our Medical Director and 12 CORE physicians. ED patient care delivery is via a nurse partnership model based on acuity. Our nurse to patient ratio supports a flex staffing model. The ratio can be 1:3 at peak hours and 4:1 during non-peak hours.

We love to celebrate successes and look for creative and fun new ways to recognize top performers, the entire team and their families. Our patient care team is the most valuable asset to this department and we strive to ensure that each individual knows that they are appreciated for making a difference in people’s lives.

To join us, Registered Nurses must have current direct patient care experience and BLS, ACLS and PALS certification. Nurses must work every other weekend, however there is no call and no floating. Superior communication, organizational and critical thinking skills are also essential to achieve excellence here.
