We operate a small, but busy, medical pediatric unit with 10 private and two semi-private rooms. Patients range in age group, as well as in diagnosis.
The unit provides for a centrally located nurses station, with charting area. However, laptops and handheld devices are also on the unit for computerized bedside charting. Our typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:4. Nurses should expect to work every other weekend, as well as holiday shifts.
Teamwork is a major focus on this close-knit unit which is staffed by nurses, patient care techs, and health unit coordinators. Everyone is supported in their growth and advancement, and is encouraged to get involved in grassroots projects, the Nurse Practice Council and our Professional Practice Program.
