Our Critical Care units house all private rooms designed for holistic healing, with family-friendly spaces and easily accessible charting areas. We serve a culturally diverse population and encourage relatives to participate in the patient experience. Ample seating and resting areas are available, along with a chapel for quiet reflection.

The staff here participates in a team approach to patient care, with responsibilities divided for optimal patient results and unit effectiveness. We share in the nurturing of patients and each other, and are proud to portray this Christian attitude in all Critical Care activities.

Intensive Care Unit

This 24-bed, multisystem ICU treats a variety of diagnoses that include cardiac, respiratory, hematological, urological, gastrointestinal and endocrine diseases, as well as general surgery. We work with a primary care model and ICU nurses must be Florida licensed (or eligible), with current ACLS.

Progressive Care Units

Florida Hospital East Orlando houses two multisystem PCUs for emergency or ICU stepdown patients in need of close observation and monitoring for cardiac, neurological, respiratory and endocrine diseases. Every patient in the unit is on a cardiac monitor, and we have also added a unique seizure monitoring service line with access to an epileptologist. These are primary care units with a 1:4 ratio and the assistance of patient care techs and charge nurses. PCU nurses must be Florida licensed (or eligible).

The Critical Care Nurse Practice Council has blossomed into a strong part of the unit active in facilitating change. Incentives are offered for education, leadership and career advancement programs such as BSN and Critical Care training. Overall, the management team looks for team-oriented registered nurses who are willing to learn and grow in a positive and fast-paced environment.
