Care to Share
Care to Share is an assistance program for employees who find themselves in sudden, unexpected financial emergencies through no fault of their own. A committee reviews all applications once a week and approved applicants are given a limited amount of money for their emergency.
Assistance may be used for rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, medications, car payments, car insurance and health benefits, just to name a few. The committee also works with employees to find other resources for necessary help such as the Second Harvest Food Pantries, Florida Hospital Credit Union, Chaplain’s Services, the county courts, Legal Aid and more.
Funding for Care to Share is provided through the generosity of Florida Hospital employees who donate directly to the program or to our SEEDS campaign.
Adopt-a-Family Program
Each year, various departments throughout Florida Hospital will adopt an employee’s family that is in need of support. Any employee who suffers a sudden and unexpected financial emergency can apply, as can any employee whose family income comes close to Federal poverty guidelines.
Backpacks for Kids
Our employees also make a huge impact on the community with donated backpacks filled with school supplies. This annual effort helps needy school children throughout the Central Florida area, with an emphasis on Orange, Seminole and Osceola county public schools.
Mission Trips
Florida Hospital sponsors a number of Mission Trips each year, allowing employees and their families to serve and minister to others. The Mission Development Department will create fun and engaging initiatives to help support these trips. For example, we once had a program called “Drop Your Drawers & Jammies for Russia.” The purpose behind the theme, was to take underwear, pajamas and other essential clothing to thousands of needy children in Russian orphanages.
Junior Achievement
Florida Hospital employees contribute their time as classroom volunteers, while also extending monetary donations during the annual JA fundraising campaign.
United Way
Do you know that YMCA, Girl Scouts, American Red Cross and other organizations are supported by the contributions received from the United Way? We do. And that’s why Florida Hospital partners with the United Way in a community-wide effort to help provide the best quality of life to all Central Florida residents, which includes our own employees.
Central Florida Harvest Food Bank
As part of our vision "to extend the healing ministry of Christ," we encourage each employee and department to participate in this initiative as a part of their Christian Service Plan. During the holidays, many organizations and individuals get into the giving spirit and then tend to forget about community needs during the rest of the year. The Second Harvest Food Bank looks forward to receiving our substantial donations during these challenging economic times.
Blood Bank
Florida Hospital has onsite Blood Donation Centers at all campuses, for your convenience.
