The Baby Place at Florida Hospital Celebration Health nurtures the birthing experience, while also offering parent education classes, lactation consulting services, various support groups, and the highest level of neonatal intensive care in the Central Florida area. Our well-designed and comprehensive facilities include:

• Eight private LDR rooms, equipped with Jacuzzis
• Eight private mother – baby rooms where babies and parents can room together, in a comfortable setting equipped with a sofa and TV/VCR
• 15 post-partum beds, with nine beds allocated for GRI
• Five Level I newborn nursery beds
• Two dedicated OR suites
• Three nurses stations (triage, PACU, main)

In addition to being a loving Christian environment, The Baby Place is also extremely advanced when it comes to technology and procedures. Resources include OB TraceVue fetal monitoring systems, HP bedside fetal monitors and Cerner documentation capabilities. Low-risk labor patients can initiate tocolytics for preterm labor, while magnesium sulfate and insulin drips are intrapartum.

Our staff consists of OB physicians, anesthesiologists, and neonatal physicians and nurse practitioners who provide 24-hour, in-house coverage. Lactation consultants provide extensive coverage for the units. We operate on a primary care model with health unit coordinators for support. Surgical techs are found in L&D, where the nurse to patient ratio is 1:2 for low risk and 1:1 for higher risk (epidural placement, second-stage labor and recoveries).

The Baby Place supports family-centered care in all birthing situations, and has a strong commitment to evidence-based practice. Nurse Practice Council is heavily involved and promotes self-governance model that encourages staff ownership of unit projects. Professional development is also integral to our successes, with many nurses receiving certifications, obtaining their BSN, or pursuing growth through our in-house training and education programs.
